Maersk's new ammonia tank design has received approval from classification societies.
AP Møller-Mærsk's recently developed 3,500 TEU ammonia container ship design has received in-principle approval from classification societies Lloyd's Register and the American Bureau of Shipping.
The design initiative, led by Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller's Center for Zero Carbon Transportation, included Deltamarin, MAN Energy Solutions and Eltronic FuelTech.
To unlock the benefits of green ammonia as an alternative and low-emission marine fuel, it is necessary to address ship safety concerns and help create a healthy working environment for seafarers and people in ports.
